Samantha + Jarred
Samantha and Jarred decided their holiday to Tasmania would be the perfect opportunity to have some engagement photos taken. And I think we can all agree that this idea turned out pretty great.
Samantha described her relationship as a "whirlwind adventure" and said she wanted some photos to encapsulate that, but I'm not sure that freak summer snow-storms, scary drives and sub-zero mountain temperatures were exactly what she had in mind. Despite this being the coldest conditions we have ever photographed in, it’s one of our favourite memories. I love that the photos speak to Samantha and Jarred’s adventurous and fun-loving personalities.
After our original plan of a five hour mountain hike was foiled by a snowstorm, we picked Sam and Jarred up from their Airbnb (laden with thermos’ and heat-packs) and drove out to the rugged Ben Lomond mountain range instead - which turned out to be one hell of a plan B! With its red dirt roads lined with eucalyptus trees, unbelievable rock formations, world famous hairpin mountain roads this is an insanely beautiful and seriously underrated national park.
Samantha and Jarred were our kind of people, chatting with them felt effortless and nothing phased them, they were up for anything. Which made for a fast paced and fun shoot, running through dirt roads, climbing up rocks and exploring the deserted ski field (apart from the occasional wallaby) with rocky expanses as far as the eye could see.
I still remember being so cold it was hard to press the camera button, hair whipping my face fiercely and turning around to see these two still smiling, laughing and running around and thinking to myself 'people and experiences like this, are why we do this job'.
