FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: WHO WILL BE PHOTOGRAPHING US?

A: All our standard wedding packages include both Michelle and James as photographers. We are married (so we understand what its like), and since then we've photographed enough weddings together that we've lost count. We love what we do and always work together whenever possible. We are also a part of the NZIPP, so if for some crazy reason we can’t work together we have a whole network of the best photographers in the country to call on for support.

Q: WHAT IS THE NZIPP?

A: The New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography is the only qualifying body for professional photographers in New Zealand – think Registered Master Builder, but for photography – choosing a NZIPP qualified photographer is the only way you can be sure you are getting a qualified professional. The good news is there are some great photographers to choose from.

We’re members, Michelle is a fully Qualified and Accredited Professional member, and James is Secretary for the Wellington region. The annual awards, workshops and network encourage us to keep pushing our photography to be the very best it can be – we’ve even managed to pick up a few awards along the way.

Q: HAVE YOU PHOTOGRAPHED AT [OUR VENUE] BEFORE?

A: Even after a number of years over half the venues we shoot are fresh to us, and we love it! We find we do our best work when we can approach a place with fresh eyes. So whether we have or we haven’t, this is not something you need to worry about. Bonus: we always do a location-scout the week before a wedding, even if we've been there 50 times before. We want to have a great plan for the day and we are always looking to create something new.

Q: DO YOU TRAVEL?

A: Oh yes, we love to travel! Our travel fees are fairly typical – the return travel, transportation while we are there (if we can’t bring our car), and accommodation for the required time – it’s nothing flash, but just the basics we need to do a great job. Please contact us for an estimate.

Q: DO WE GET DIGITAL COPIES?

A: Of course! We grew up with computers and we wouldn't have it any other way. All our wedding packages include unlimited high-resolution digital images. 'Unlimited' means, we won't restrict the number of images we deliver to an arbitrary number - If we think you'll love it, we will include it. Typically we will deliver a bit north of 400 digital negatives that you can use to print, share or make your own album.

Q: DO YOU RETOUCH YOUR IMAGES?

A: We lightly process all our images, we avoid trends and styles that will quickly date, but we believe all images can benefit from a bit of TLC. We also know a poor photo cannot be made good with Photoshop, so we always aim to get as much right 'in-camera' as possible. We are experts in posing and posture to get the light and angles working right, so heavy retouching can be avoided all together – meaning your images will be more natural and timeless as a result.

All the images on this site benefit from our standard level of post processing so this will get you an idea of the quality of images you can expect. However if you would like additional retouching or processing after delivery we are happy to do this as an extra service on a per-image basis.

Q: Do we get black & white as well as colour images?

A: Yes, from each wedding we choose some images that we think would look great in black and white. If you would also like these images in colour we can often re-process them for you. There is usually a small per image fee associated with the additional processing, however for small selections of image we may choose to do this pro-bono at our discretion.

Q: HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO PROCESS OUR PHOTOS?

A: We generally take about 6 weeks for delivery of the wedding images and we will be in touch within this time frame with an update on our progress. Please understand, since process every image to insure all your images have a consistently high quality, time to process can vary especially during peak season.

We often like to post a little sneak-peek on our blogPinterest or Facebook Page soon after the wedding for friends and family – so let us know if this is something you would like. If you would like your wedding to stay private, we are happy to accommodate this and can add a privacy option to your wedding package as an add-on. If you would like any further information about this, or would like updated pricing, please contact us.

Q: SHOULD WE GET AN ALBUM?

A: Getting an album is completely optional, and you are welcome to make your own - however we know just how much work goes into creating a gorgeous record of your big day; and despite most people's best intentions an album often never gets finished. We are here to take the bulk work out of choosing, designing, editing and printing an album while giving you a chance to create something that is uniquely yours.

We will guide you through the design of your album, helping you select images that work well together but still giving you maximum input for a design tailored specifically to you. We work plenty of whitespace into our designs so that each image has the opportunity to sing! And then we work with Queensberry, a New Zealand supplier, to craft an exquisite album made from the highest quality materials and with the highest degree of artisanship.

With our help, you will have a unique, finished and extremely high quality heirloom that will be treasured for generations.

Q: CAN WE MAKE COPIES OF OUR IMAGES FOR FAMILY? CAN WE PUT OUR PHOTOS ON FACEBOOK?

A: Yes! We believe you should have maximum rights do share, print and copy your wedding images as you see fit. This is why we have chosen to use a creative commons license - the most liberal and easy to understand license we could find! This license will allow you to upload your images to Facebook, email them to your friends, and print them.

The only things we do ask is that you credit us (telling your friends about us will help us continue to do what we love), that you do not alter them in photo-editing software, and that you don't sell them (e.g. to a magazine publication) without our consultation.
